Waarom een boek?
In ons huis is de kunst overal aanwezig, en aan veel objecten zit een verhaal of anekdote vast.
Tijdens rondleidingen vertellen we er graag over, tegelijkertijd is er nooit genoeg tijd om ze allemaal te vertellen.
Dus besloten we ze op te schrijven, een boek te maken, en het in eigen beheer uit te geven.
Leven in Schoonheid bevat 42 + 1 van deze anekdotes en thema's samen met een interview en een kunsthistorische inleiding.
Why a book?
Art is everywhere in our home, and many of the objects have a story or anecdote attached to them.
We love to talk about them during guided tours, but there’s never quite enough time to tell them all.
So we decided to write them down, compile them into a book, and self-publish it.
Living in Beauty contains 42 + 1 of these anecdotes and thematic chapters, along with an interview and an art-historical introduction.

Het team achter het boek
Een boek maak je niet alleen.
Wij schreven het meerendeel van de teksten en deden de projectbegeleiding en financiering.
Fotograaf Erik Rijper maakte de object- en interieurfoto's.
En we hadden professionele begeleiding van een eindredacteur, corrector en vormgever.
Wat kost het maken van een boek?
Veel, zo veel zelfs dat de verkoopprijs ongeveer de helft is van de werkelijke kosten die we gemaakt hebben.
Het had natuurlijk goedkoper gekund, maar we wilden het beste boek maken dat we konden.
Oplage
We hebben 500 exemplaren laten maken, 198 pagina's, hardcover op 135 grams papier, met leeslint, kosten noch moeite gespaard om een boek te vullen met schoonheid.
The team behind the book
You don’t write a book on your own.
We wrote most of the text and were responsible for project management and funding.
Photographer Erik Rijper took the object and interior photographs.
And we had professional support from an editor, a proofreader and a designer.
How much does it cost to produce a book?
A lot – so much, in fact, that the selling price is about half of the actual costs we incurred.
It could, of course, have been cheaper, but we wanted to make the best book we possibly could.
Print run
We made 500 copies: 198 pages, hardback on 135-gram paper, with a ribbon marker – sparing no expense or effort to create a book brimming with beauty.
